Accessing Functions Reserved for Members


Administering Your Membership Account:

1. Go to the Valotech gateway: www.valotech.org

2. From the home page:

        In the input boxes to the left of the page, enter your user name and password, and click on "Log In."


3. To manage your membership information: In the menu bar at the top of the page, under "Members," click on "Your Membership Record."

To make changes to your record:

   i. Click on "Update your membership record" at the bottom of the page

  ii. Make whatever changes you want to make

  iii. Click on "Submit"


4. To post or update a news entry on the gateway: In the menu on the left of the page, click on "News," or in the menu bar at the top of the page, under "Information," click on "News."

a. To add a news entry:

i. Click on "Administration," at the bottom of the page, to the right

ii. Click on "New," at the bottom of the page, to the right

iii. Fill in the input boxes:
· Title: Choose a title that accurately reflects the content of the news entry.
· Description: In this box, enter the content of the news entry or else a summary if the content is posted on another site (URL).
· External link: If your news entry is already posted on another site, enter the URL address in this box.
· Date: Enter the posting and expiry dates.

iv. Click on "Submit"

b. To update a news entry:

i. Click on "Administration," at the bottom of the page, to the right

ii. In the left column, select the news entry that you wish to update. Click on the corresponding pencil-and-paper icon

iii. Make whatever changes you want to make

iv. Click on "Submit"


c. Whenever you add or update a news entry, an e mail message is sent to the gateway administrator (solutions@valotech.org) so that Valotech can validate the entry before it is posted on the site.

 

5. To announce or modify a training activity on the gateway: In the menu on the left of the page, click on "Training," or in the menu bar at the top of the page, under "Information," click on "Training."

a. To add a training entry:

i. Click on "Administration," at the bottom of the page, to the right

ii. Click on "New," at the bottom of the page, to the right

iii. Fill in the input boxes:
· Title: Choose a title that accurately reflects the nature of the training.
· Description: Enter a summary of the training that is being offered.
· External link: If the training announcement is already posted on another site, enter the URL address in this box.
· Date: Enter the posting date and the date when the training is to be given.
· Place: Indicate where the training will be given.


iv. Click on "Submit"

b. To update a training entry:

i. Click on "Administration," at the bottom of the page, to the right

ii. In the left column, select the training entry that you wish to update. Click on the corresponding pencil-and-paper icon

iii. Make whatever changes you wish to make

iv. Click on "Submit"

c. When you add or update a training entry, you do not need to have it validated by the gateway administrator (solutions@valotech.org) in order to have it posted. However, if you notify us, you may benefit from extra assistance in promoting your training.
